Living and Showing Up with Intention. 2/31 #sol16

My one little word for 2016 is intention. As in the goal is to be more intentional with my day to day moments and routines. To be more intentional with the things I accumulate and consume. To bring intention and give value to the things I already have and the things I decide to bring in. As I drove in my car this afternoon I intentionally purified the air using my essential oils. I intentionally played the beginning of Daring Greatly by Brene Brown on my new Audible app. Yet, my mind couldn't help but stray. I thought of how I did not get to meditate this morning. How I had to unintentionally share my yoga mat with the kiddo who woke up earlier than usual. I intentionally ate dairy free at each meal and I intentionally hugged and kissed my kiddo goodbye before he was off to preschool and I was off to work. I intentionally met with two teachers, yet allowed them to guide our conversations and our work. See, as an instructional coach, intention is one key, yet flexibility is another. I intentionally chose to save my money instead of grabbing a quick snack or Starbucks on my way back to my desk. Driving and listening, driving and thinking, driving and problem solving, driving, just driving. I tuned back in to the words of Brene Brown, "Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up." Yes and sometimes the most intentional things we do are to just show up. I am intentional in how and when I show up and intentional in what I show up to. How's things go after that are the part where the flexibility and listening and empathy and understanding come in.
